Your physiotherapist will obtain information about your current injury and any other relevant health information by asking a series of questions. Based on the information provided during this discussion, she will then perform an individualized examination to obtain specific objective measures of your current physical function (including, but not limited to joint/functional mobility, strength, and muscle/nerve tension). These objective measures will inform the physiotherapist about the tissues involved in your injury and guide your plan of care. Your initial evaluation will last roughly 60 minutes.
You will see the same physiotherapist at each visit unless previously discussed and agreed upon. Each visit will last 45-60 minutes and will be completely one on one with your therapist. She will re-assess your current condition at the start of each visit and utilize the appropriate manual therapy, exercise, education and/or modality treatment methods.
Rates are as follows:
First Visits:Â
$130 for a 1 hour assessment
$260 for a 2 hour assessment (Ehlers-Danos Syndrome/Hypermobility Disorders)
Follow-Ups:
$120 for a 1 hour session
$90 for a 30 min session
$240 for a 2 hour session
Your therapist will determine the most appropriate appointment length based on your assessment and plan of care and will be happy to discuss any questions you might have.
Payment is due at the time of each visit.
Due to the complex nature of the condition(s) and the desire to be as thorough as possible, all appointments for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (or generalized hypermobility) will be 2 hours long unless otherwise noted.
Athletica accepts cash, check, debit/interac, bank e-transfers, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB and Discover cards.

Yes. Most private insurance companies reimburse in full for your physio with the invoice provided to you via email after each appointment. The total amount covered by each particular insurance plan varies, so you should check with your provider to determine the maximum they’ll reimburse. If you do not have private insurance or must go beyond the allowed amount, you can use the invoices provided to claim toward medical expenses on your taxes.
No. Physiotherapists in Quebec have ‘direct access’ which means that you can come directly to physiotherapy without a physician’s referral, however some insurance plans do require a referral.
Time permitting, yes. If you have a complex case that requires extensive evaluation and examination, there may not be time for manual therapy or modalities at the first visit, but you will definitely leave with information on what your physiotherapist found during your exam and what your plan of care involves. You will also leave with at least one exercise to target your specific condition.
Comfortable, loose clothing, such as gym/workout clothing, is the best to allow your physiotherapist full access to examine your area of pain and the surrounding structures.
We are busier than usual lately but we try our best to fit you in with one of our physiotherapists within 24 hours of calling.
